Sew Tradtional’s 8 Rules of Project Engagement

  1. I will honor the fact I have limited space and resources. Therefore, all projects will be taken on mindfully.
  2. My approach to sewing will be the low scale, slower, and high quality tailoring model. I will not try to force myself into techniques better suited to garment factories. My least limited resource is time.
  3. The economics of home sewing will be attended to. As attractive T-shirts made out of $70 worth of materials are, they are still T-shirts.
  4. However, I will spend the money for quality materials for long lasting garments without flinching, at least too much. Materials used will be worthy of the time spent.
  5. I understand nobody really likes those fleecy blankets with the “tied” fringes and will refrain.
  6. I will give myself the time to do a good job, particularly if I’ve never tackled a similiar project before. I will dedicate myself to sewing daily or weekly and whatever gets done is whatever gets done. Modern RTW (Ready to Wear) and an abudance of thrift/consignment stores means that noone will go naked or cold, even if money is tight.
  7. Despite every precaution, if I find myself frustrated to the point of anger or tears, I will walk away from today’s session secure that there’s another session to make progress.
  8. I will limit myself to a 2 hours of Pintrest to 1 hour actually sewing.
